RandyH Annihilates the Field

According to RandyH, he was just playing a hunch when he wrote-in Jauan Jennings in Box I. Some hunch.

RandyH posted the highest score of the young season, with a 437, thanks to a lineup featuring J. Allen, G. Smith, Kamara, Charbonnet, Chase, Metcalf, Jennings, Kincaid, and Aubrey.

Taking second place with a 372 is one of our rookie owners: Beth. Her lineup was led by J. Allen, Goff, Barkley, Charbonnet, Jefferson, Godwin, McLaurin and Aubrey.

This is Randy‘s first weekly win since Week 17 of the 2022 campaign, and Beth‘s first pay day ever in only her third week in the league. Congratulations to RandyH and Beth on their strong Week 3 performance.

Honorable mention to Ravi (351), last week’s winner, who would appear to be on track to debut near the top of the standings next week.

The Rookie Report:
In week 3, Beth (372) earned bragging rights among the newbies, and the first pay day among our rookie owners on the young season. Congrats Beth  on a strong week.

Family Affair
Many of our owners share family ties with one another, including one family that has had three generations play in the league. Here are some of the current blood lines in the league:

Spouses:
JohnK
 and Brenda
David and Kerry
Kel & Karen (who opt to keep a united front by fielding one team)

Fathers/Sons:
JohnK/Will
Jack/Jake
Tom/Trent* (Tom’s dad Roger was a long-time owner in this league, and Trent’s brother Craig has also played in years past.)

Cousins:
JohnK
 and David
Will/Trent

Uncles/Aunts/ Nephews:
JohnK/Brenda
 and Trent

Ravi and Kerry Reach 300+ to Top Week

The points were out there, but we just couldn’t string enough strong performances together to dominate the week.

Only two owners topped 300+, with Ravi earning a 326 to win Week 2, thanks to a lineup featuring Mahomes, Mayfield, K. Williams, Dobbins, Charbonnet, Bowers, Fairbairn, and the Chargers D.

Kerry‘s Week 2 team scored 313 and was led by Mahomes, Daniels, B. Robinson, Achane, Dobbins, Charbonnet, Rice and Aubrey.

This is Ravi‘s first weekly win since Week 14 of last season, and coincidentally, that’s also the week of Kerry‘s last pay day. Congratulations to Ravi and Kerry on their strong showing in Week 2.

Honorable Mention:
Shout out to sophomore owner Ernesto (288), the only owner to play Darnold, he collected 15 bonus points in Box A and finished a very respectable fourth this week.

Dubious Distinction:
With so many popular players not scoring well (Josh Allen, and T. Hill to name just a few), it shouldn’t come as a surprise to see four owners finish below the Mendoza line. We won’t mention any names to protect the innocent. The good news, we drop the two lowest scores.

The Rookie Report:
In week 2, Rose (259) earned bragging rights among the newbies while opting not to make any Week 2 trades. Congrats Rose  on a strong showing and a top 10 finish in Week 2.

Past League Champs
In 30 seasons, we have had 17 different owners crowned league champion. In 2024, we have nine former league champions playing, including
Andrew (2020),
CraigS (2001),
Dennis (1999/2008)
Kerry (2005),
Major (2016),
Mike (2004/2006)
RandyH (1998/2017),
yours truly (2012/2021) and
TroyA, who has won the league a record 10 times. (2002/2009/2011/2013-2015/2018/2019/2022/2023).

The Ultimate Bridesmaid:
In addition to the league champions listed above, one owner deserves honorable mention for his amazing consistency, despite never winning it all.

Since joining the league in 2002. Eric has taken 8th once (2004), fifth two times  (’05 and ’20), fourth five times (’09, ’10, ’12, ’14, ’23), finished third three times (’11, ’15, ’21) and placed second a record eight times (’02, ’03, ’06, ’07, ’08, ’13, ’16, ’22).

He’s only finished out of the money three times (2017-2019). Pretty impressive.  And one of these seasons, I believe he will finally claim the ultimate prize.

Injured on the opening play of the game, Gano was a no-go for the rest of the Giants contest vs. the Commanders.

Kel&Karen Kick Off Season with Weekly Win

When Karen sent her email last week with her and Kelly‘s Week 1 lineup, she wrote: “Maybe this will be our year…..”

It may be premature to make any predictions for the season, but they are definitely off to a great start.

Kel&Karen posted a 357 to edge Trent by a single point, thanks to a lineup featuring J. Allen, Daniels, B. Hall, Mixon, Dobbins, T. Hill, and D. Samuel.

Trent‘s inaugural lineup of 2024 was led by J. Allen, Daniels, Hall, Achane, Ford, T. Hill, Kupp, and Fairbairn. He edged his cousin Will by a mere three points.

This is Kel&Karen‘s first weekly win since Week 12 of last season, and Trent‘s first pay day since Week 15 of last year. Congratulations to Kel&Karen and Trent on a solid opening week.

It was a solid start to the season as 14 owners exceeded 300 points for the week.

On the flip side, only one owner failed to crack the 200-point threshold. Yours truly with a 188. UGH!!!

Apparently I need to do a little more research or stop playing bad hunches.

Hello Rookies:
This year we have four rookie owners.

Please welcome in alphabetical order: Beth, Bridget, Chad and Rose.

Beth is the significant other of Tom.

Chad is a friend of long-time owner Trent.

Rose is a colleague of Kelly of Kel & Karen fame. Bridget is Will‘s significant other, and Will, who first played in 2008, is back for the first time in many moons.

Welcome all.

In week 1, Chad (292) earned bragging rights among the newbies, edging Rose (289) by three points. Congrats Chad  on a strong first week.

The Steelers K accounted for all of Pittsburgh’s points Sunday, hitting on six FGs, including four from over 50+ yards, and made an emergency punt.

Lowest scoring player: Chuba Hubbard (0)
So many choices, but a fair number of us took the Panther running back and he scored 0 points, despite recording actual statistics. His six carries for 14 yards was indicative of the kind of day Carolina had in Week 1.

The 2024 Season is about to Kick Off

The preseason is over.

The teams have cut down to their 53-man rosters, and we are days away from the kickoff of the 2024 NFL season.

The Baltimore Ravens open at Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday, Sept. 5. That’s also the start of a new fantasy football season.

The NFL also has a rare Friday night game (Sept. 6), with the Green Bay Packers at the Philadelphia Eagles, from Brazil.

You can check out the play list for Weeks 1-4 and submit your lineup for Week 1.

Entry fee is $35 for an opening lineup and the first 50 trades of the season.

Major thanks to the 25 owners who have already sent payment for the 2024 campaign.

So far, I’ve heard from 38 owners who have expressed an interest in playing.

This includes defending champion TroyA, as well as at least six rookie owners for this season.

I’m still waiting to hear back from a handful of past owners as well as a few new ones who are considering playing.

We still have time to invite additional friends and family who might be interested in playing in the league. The more, the merrier.

I’ll send an email to everyone as well, with how to send payment.

Good luck to all.

John K.
