CraigW Makes Victorious Return to League

Well, Week 1 opened our league with far more of a whimper, than a commanding statement. We averaged 242 points per team, and no one topped 300 points.

Having said that, it takes nothing away from CraigW, who returned to the league after a five-year hiatus, and scored a 277 to win the week. CraigW‘s team was led by L. Jackson, Barkley, Hubbard, Benson, Bowers, Aubrey and the Broncos D.

CraigS, a former league champion, opened with a 269, thanks to team featuring Hurts, D. Jones, Barkley, Kamara, Meyers, Bowers, Aubrey and the Broncos D.

Congrats to CraigW on his first weekly win since Week 8 of the 2015 campaign, and CraigS who kept rolling after winning the final week of the 2024 campaign.

I should also note that this has been an eventful summer for my nephew CraigW, as he and his lovely wife welcomed their first child last month.

Dubious Record:
I mentioned this was a low-scoring week by league standards. How low?
Well prior to this weekend, the lowest winning score in league history was TroyA‘s 281 in Week 11 of the 2015 campaign.

So TroyA, you no longer hold that record.

The Extremes:

Highest Scoring Player: Derrick Henry (66)
The Ravens bruising runner amassed 169 yards and had two touchdown runs of 30+ yards, but his 4th-quarter fumble proved costly. Only one owner played Henry in Week 1.

Lowest Scoring Player: X. Worthy (-1)
The Chiefs speedy wideout suffered a shoulder injury early, and that was the end of his action for the evening in Brazil.

Housekeeping:
Thanks to all the owners who have already paid in. Much appreciated.

We can still add owners for the first three weeks of the season, so if you know someone who might like to join, it’s not too late.

Looking Ahead:

That’s it for Week 1.
Please double check my work and let me know if you see any scoring errors.

Thursday Night Game:

Washington at Green Bay

Good luck to all in Week 2.
