David Conquers All in Week 6

In a week with slightly more subdued scores, David posted a 372 to claim Week 6, thanks to a lineup led by Allen, Burrow, K. Williams, Hubbard, T. Hill, Chase, Theilen, Kelce and Butker.

Coming in second was Andrew (353) who edged my Week 6 team by a single point, thanks to a team featuring Hurts, Burrow, K. Williams, Hubbard, T. Hill, Chase, Theilen, Kelce, and Joseph,

This is the first weekly win for David since Week 18 of the 2021 season, and the second pay day for Andrew this season. Congrats to both on their strong showings in Week 6.

The Rookie Report:

In week 6, Austin (308) earned bragging rights among the new owners, edging Zach by a mere seven points. Congrats Austin on another great week.

Mr. Eames Outpaces the Competition

Mr. Eames was working a racing event in Illinois this weekend, but he was able to drive his team into the winner’s circle in Week 5.

The Eames team scored a 443, with a lineup featuring Mahomes, Burrow, Hall, Spears, T. Hill, Chase, Kelce and the Dolphins D.

Runner up for the week went to JamesT (412), who offered up a lineup led by Tagovailoa, Burrow, Achane, McLaughlin, T. Hill, Chase, M. Brown and Kelce, but most importantly, C. Samuel as his wildcard. Why did that matter?

Turns out rookie owner Zach also scored a 412, with a roster that included Mahomes, Burrow, Mixon, Warren, T. Hill, Chase, Theilen Kelce and 49ers D, but Bass (who became his wildcard) only scored one point, costing him the week.

This is the first weekly win for Mr. Eames, since Week 10 of the 2022 season, and the first pay day for JamesT, since entering the league last year. Congrats to Mr. Eames and JamesT on their strong showings in Week 5.

The Rookie Report:

In week 5, Zach (412) ended Austin’s four-week winning streak to earn weekly bragging rights among the new owners. Congrats Zach on an impressive week.

Andrew wins Week 4 with High Score of Season

For the second week in a row, we had eight owners top 400 points for the week. (A pretty clear sign it is time for a new playlist).

In the end, it was Andrew who posted a season high 484 to win the week, thanks to a lineup led by Hurts, Richardson, McCaffery, Swift, Achane, K. Williams, Nacua, Folk and the Cowboys D.

CraigS, another former league champion, was runner up, thanks to a team featuring J. Allen, Stroud, McCaffery, Walker, K. Williams, Jefferson, Nacua, and the Cowboys D.

This is Andrew’s first weekly win since Week 7 of the 2020 season when he won it all, and the first pay day for CraigS, since Week 9 of 2021. Congrats to both on their strong showings in Week 4.

The Rookie Report:

In week 4, Austin (382) ran his streak to four in a row to start his inaugural season. Impressive. Ryan (360) wasn’t too far behind.

The Leaderboard:
Week 4 features the debut of our overall standings.

Taylor Swift wasn’t the only person in Metlife Stadium for Sunday Night Football, as my cousin David also saw the Chiefs defeat the Jets. And on Monday night, he debuts atop the leaderboard for the 2023 season. His lovely wife Kerry sits third, 10 points behind last year’s champion TroyA, and tied with last year’s runner up, Eric.

Kerry, Kraig, Dominate Monster Week

First the Miami Dolphins posted 70 points on Sunday. Then Taylor Swift showed up for the late game in Arrowhead.

Not to be outdone, 11 of our owners scored 400+ points in Week 3.
What a week for offense and pop culture. (And defense if you played the Bills or Browns.)

In the end, former league champion Kerry posted a 468 to put an exclamation mark on the week, thanks to a lineup featuring Mahomes, Goff, McCaffery, Walker, Mostert, Jefferson, K. Allen, Aubrey and the Chiefs D.

Sunday night, I thought Kraig had the week won with a 462, which most weeks would seal the deal. Alas, he had to settle for runner up, thanks to a team led by Tagovailoa, Goff, McCaffery, Walker, Mostert, Jefferson, K. Allen, Pittman, and Kelce.

A quick footnote on Kerry‘s win. Typically last-minute lineup changes backfire, but with seven minutes to go before kickoff, Kerry sent a “last-minute change” email adding K. Allen and Nacua to her lineup, in place of Collins and Atwell. That move added 73 points to her Week 3 score! Kudos Kerry.

This is the first weekly win for Kerry, since Week 15 of the 2020 campaign, and the first pay day for Kraig, since joining the league last season. Congrats to both on their strong showings in Week 3.

Honorable mention goes to Trent (457), Austin (440), David (436), TroyA (433), Eric (428), CarlP (418), JamesT (417), Ravi (408) and CraigS (403), all of whom scored more than enough points to win a typical week.

The Rookie Report:

In week 3, Austin (440) earned bragging rights among the new owners. Congrats Austin who has now won three weeks in a row to open his inaugural season.

The Ultimate Bridesmaid:

Last week I recapped the league champions over the 30 seasons we’ve run this league. But one owner deserves honorable mention for his amazing consistency, despite never winning it all.

Since joining the league in 2002. Eric has taken 8th once (2004), fifth two times  (’05 and ’20), fourth four times (’09, ’10, ’12, ’14), finished third three times (’11, ’15, ’21) and placed second a record eight times (’02, ’03, ’06, ’07, ’08, ’13, ’16, ’22).

He’s only finished out of the money three times (2017-2019). Pretty impressive.  And one of these seasons, I believe he will finally claim the ultimate prize.

Family Affair
Many of our owners share family ties with one another, including one family that has had three generations play in the league. Here are some of the current blood lines in the league:

Spouses:
JohnK
 and Brenda
David and Kerry
Kel & Karen (who opt to keep a united front by fielding one team)

Fathers/Sons:
Jack/Jake
Tom/Trent* (Tom’s dad Roger was a long-time owner in this league, and Trent’s brother Craig has also played in years past.)

Siblings:
Eric
and Kraig

Cousins/Nephews:
JohnK
 and David
JohnK/Brenda and Trent

Highest scoring player: De’Von Achane (100)
The Dolphins RB scored four TDs and posted 100 fantasy points, but not a soul played him in Week 3.

Lowest scoring player: Rashid Shaheed (-1)
Yes, the former Weber State Wildcat had a 76-yard punt return for a TD, but that is credited to the Saints D/special teams unit. He was unable to haul in either of the two passes thrown his way.

Heather First Owner to Top 400 This Season

Veteran owner Heather was already over 400 points going into Monday night, so no surprise the Saints D only padded her lead. In the end, Heather scored a season-best 425 thanks to a lineup led by Mahomes, G. Smith, McCaffery, J. Cook, B. Robinson, Metcalf, Evans, Nacua, Tucker and the Saints D.

CarlP survived watching his Steelers win a wild one on Monday night to claim second place with a 378, thanks to a roster featuring Mahomes, Goff, McCaffery, Mostert, K. Allen, Evans, Tucker and the Cowboys D.

It was a strong showing for Weber State Wildcats in fantasy football, as third place went to yet another WSU colleague, Ravi (372).

This is Heather‘s first weekly win since Week 17 of 2020, and CarlP’s first pay day since Week 7 of last season. Congrats to Heather and CarlP on their strong Week 2 showings.

The Rookie Report:

In week 2, Austin (353) earned bragging rights among the new owners, edging Zach (352) by just one point. In fact, three of our four rookie owners finished in the top 11. Congrats Austin on a strong Week 2.

Eric Opens Season Strong

Almost as fast as Aaron Rodgers’ NY Jets debut lasted, Week 1 is in the books, and last year’s league runner up Eric, gets off to a strong start with a 319 to earn the first weekly win of the 30th season of this league..

Eric‘s team was led by Hurts, Carr, McCaffery, T. Hill, Hockenson, Folk and the Commanders D.

Taking second to open the season is sophomore owner Kristie, who posted a 310, thanks to a lineup featuring Hurts, Garopollo, McCaffery, Jefferson, K. Allen, Elliott and the 49ers D.

This is Eric‘s first weekly win since opening day of the 2021 season, and Kristie‘s first pay day ever. Congratulations to Eric and Kristie on a solid opening week.

Honorable mention to Tom (302), the only other player in Week 1 to exceed 300 points.

Hello Rookies:
This year we have four rookie owners.

Please welcome in alphabetical order: Austin, Ernesto, Ryan, and Zach.

Austin, Ryan and Zach are friends of long-time owner Trent.

Ernesto is a colleague at Weber State, and CarlP‘s neighbor.

Welcome all.

In week 1, Austin (266) earned bragging rights among the newbies. Congrats Austin on a great first week.

The 2023 Season is about to Kick Off

The preseason is over. The teams have cut down to their 53-man rosters, and we are days away from the kickoff of the 2023 NFL season.

The Detroit Lions open at Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday, Sept. 7. That’s also the start of a new fantasy football season.

You can check out the play list for Weeks 1-4 and submit your lineup for Week 1.

Entry fee is $35 for an opening lineup and the first 50 trades of the season.

Major thanks to the 30 owners who have already sent payment for the 2023 campaign.

So far, I’ve heard from 35 owners who have expressed an interest in playing.

This includes defending champion TroyA, as well as at least four rookie owners for this season.

I’m still waiting to hear back from a handful of past owners. We still have time to invite additional friends and family who might interested in playing in the league. The more, the merrier.

I’ll send an email to everyone as well, with how to send payment.

Good luck to all.

John K.

We Are a Go for 2023

Thanks to everyone who responded to my email so quickly. I’ve heard from at least 20 owners who want to play again in 2023, so we are go for the 30th season of this league.

In a week or two, I’ll update the site with more information, and the first playlist of the season will be posted by Monday, Sept. 4.

If you know of others who might be interested in playing this season, please send me an email, or have them send me one. I’ll be happy to follow up with more details.

Can’t wait for the regular season to kick off in a little less than a month.

John K.

Anyone Interested in Playing in 2023?

Hi All:

I plan to post and send out a more formal email on Aug. 10, to see if anyone is interested in playing this league again in 2023.

In the meantime, I’m conducting a simple test, to see if anyone checks this site.

If you see this post, send me an email to johnkffb@gmail.com and use the words “I’m interested” in the subject line.

The first five owners who send me an email between now and Aug. 10 with that subject line will receive 5 free additional trades for the 2023 season.

John K.

In the End, It’s All TroyA

They say all good things must come to an end, and that includes the 2022 fantasy football season.

In the end, TroyA does what TroyA has done more than any other owner. Win when it counts most.

Troy‘s final lineup of the year scored a 316, thanks to a team led by Mahomes, Stidham, Henry, Z. Moss, Akers, Chase, D. Smith, Crosby and the 49ers D.

Taking second was Brenda, who posted a 308, with a lineup featuring Allen, Stidham, Henry, Harris, Akers, Diggs, Lockett, Pickens, and Tucker.

This is TroyA’s second weekly win of the year, and Brenda‘s third payday of 2022. Congrats to TroyA and Brenda on their strong showings in Week 18.

The Rookie Report:
In the finale, Luc once again stayed pat and still earned the bragging rights (250) for one last time this season.

Fellow rookie owner Brett finished 14th overall with 4741 total points. Great showing this season Brett.

The Leaderboard:

1. TroyA (5197)

Congratulations to all those owners who finished in the money.

If you picked the top scorers in every box, 464 points were possible this week.

The Extremes:

Highest scoring player: Jake Elliott(62)
The Eagles K kicked five FGs for the first time in his career.

Lowest scoring player: Brian Maher (-4)
Even when the Cowboys offense cracked the end zone, Maher missed the extra point. Ugh!

Housekeeping:

Exceeding 50 Trades:
As the first few owners start to go over 50 trades, just a reminder that each trade above 50 costs 50 cents each.

See if you owe money for extra trades.

I’ll send you each an email if you owe for trades. Please settle up on that quickly, so I can get winning shares out in a timely manner. Thanks.

Looking Ahead:

That’s it for Week 18 and the 2022 season.
Please double check my work and let me know if you see any scoring errors.

Thanks for playing this season. I hope you enjoyed it.

Enjoy the postseason, Super Bowl and off season.

I’ll be in touch come August, to see if you all want to do this again. Until then, take care.
