RandyH Kicks Off New Year with Dominating Win

NOTE: On Jan. 5, 2023, the NFL announced that the postponed Buffalo Bills/Cincinnati Bengals game from Week 17 was cancelled. On Friday, Jan. 6, the NFL announced that all stats from this game would be vacated.

The Week 17 results, standings, tally and team scores have all been updated to reflect this scoring change. After much reflection and discussion, I have decided that all scores from Week 17 will count toward the season overall standings. I’ll elaborate on this decision in an email to the league.

In the meantime, here’s a reminder for all of us. Fantasy football is an entertaining distraction for 18 weeks each fall. A momentary chance to gloat, boast, celebrate or curse ourselves for one or two bone-headed picks each week. Nothing more, nothing less.

This week, the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals medical staffs, and the EMTs, first responders and medical personnel at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center performed a feat far greater than anything we have ever seen on the football field.

Thanks to all of them we have witnessed a modern-day miracle.

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, 24, is alive, conscious, speaking and appears to be on the road to making a successful recovery. Thank Heavens.
That victory supersedes anything else that happened on or off the field this season.

Now back to our regular programming.

Week 17 Recap:
Only one owner topped 400 points in Week 17. RandyH kicked off the New Year on a high note, scoring a 419, thanks to a lineup led by Mahomes, Brady, Ekeler, Etienne, McKinnon, James and Prater.

Kim continued his late-season surge, posting a 366 to take second place, thanks to a lineup featuring Mahomes, Brady, Conner, Etienne, McKinnon, DJ Moore and Prate.

This is Randy’s second weekly win of 2022, and Kim‘s fourth payday of the 2022 campaign. Congrats to RandyH and Kim on their strong showings in Week 17.

Brett Makes it Two in A Row

First Christmas came early for rookie owner Brett. Now he’s received one final gift this holiday season. Back-to-back winning weeks.

As if he hasn’t been enjoying the charmed life of his Vikings all season long, Brett scored a 405, thanks to a lineup led by Cousins, Tagovailoa, Henry, Akers, Jefferson, D. Smith, Kittle, and Patterson.

TroyA claims second place with a 357, thanks to a roster featuring Mahomes, Tagovailoa, Henry, Kamara, Jefferson, Waddle, Kelce and Crosby.

This is Brett’s second weekly win in as many weeks, and TroyA‘s third payday this season. Congrats to Brett and TroyA on their strong showings in Week 16.

The Rookie Report:
Just like last week, see above. Brett‘s finishing strong.

100-Point Bonus Earned

In the final week to earn a 100-point bonus this season, Kim played Prater (55) who outscored all other players in play, and collected the 100-point bonus for Kim‘s overall standings.

2. Eric  (4553)*
3. Jack (4473)*

7. Heather (4405)
Mr. Eames (4395), Kim (4337)* and David (4284) round out the top 10.

While Seth had a bit of a setback this week, this race is looking like it might be a barn-burner through Week 18. Troy and Eric continue to keep it tight, but some of the high scores that could be put into play by Jack, Mike, Kim and David make this race impossible to predict.

Stay tuned …

Rookie Brett Nabs Week 15 Victory

Christmas came early for rookie owner Brett, who scored a 397 to win the week, after watching his Vikings score an improbable comeback victory.

Brett‘s team was led by Cousins, Henry, Dobbins, Akers, Jefferson, D. Smith, D. Johnson, Kelce, and Patterson.

Runner-up was Jack, who posted a solid 369 to claim second ahead of a pack of owners. Jack’s lineup featured Hurts, Tagovailoa, McCaffery, McKinnon, Jefferson, Kelce and McLaughlin.

The numbers tell the story in terms of drama down the homestretch. A mere 43 points separates first and third, and only 16 points separate fourth through sixth.

Three weeks left to crown our 2022 champion.

Cool Hand “No Trades” Luc wins Week 13

Every week all of us make our moves for the current week, taking advantage of optimal matchups. Unless you decide not to make any moves. And that’s how rookie owner Luc won Week 13 with a 388 — by keeping his Week 12 lineup intact.

Luc was led by Mahomes, Brady, McCaffery, Pacheco, Hill, St. Brown, D. Smith, Gould and the 49ers D.

That left poor Seth to settle for second with a 377, thanks to a team featuring Mahomes, Pollard, Robinson, Perine, Hill, St. Brown, Wilson, McLaughlin and the Cowboys D.

This is Luc’s first weekly win ever, and Seth‘s second payday of the 2022 campaign. Congrats to Luc and Seth on their strong showings in lucky Week 13.

The Rookie Report:
See above as Luc becomes the first rookie of 2022 to win the week.

The Leaderboard:
Week 13 proved to be terribly unlucky for Eric, who led the overall standings the past four weeks.

1. TroyA  (3538)
2. CraigS (3521)
3. Seth (3502) *
4. Mike (3489)*
5. Eric (3485)*
6. Jack (3409)*
7. Mr. Eames (3358)
Heather (3347), David (3340) and RandyH (3233) round out the top 10.

Eric’s low score this week caused him to tumble into fifth, but there’s no reason for him to despair, as he remains a mere 53 points out of first place. Speaking of first place, the league’s most decorated owner, TroyA, steps into the top spot, with another former champ, CraigS, breathing down his neck, and Mike, a two-time champ, sitting fourth.

Plenty of drama with five weeks to go.

Monday Evening Quarterback:

The average score for this week was 308.
For those of you who were disappointed with your scores this week  here are some players who were played by one or fewer owners:

Box A: G. Smith (49), Burrow (48), Fields (34), D. Jones (32)

The Extremes:

Highest scoring player: Davante Adams (68)
In his first season with the Raiders, Adams caught 8 passes for 177 yards and two TDs.

Lowest scoring player: Baker Mayfield (0)
He didn’t even play in Week 13, but the former No. 1 pick in 2018 got released by the Panthers on Monday. Ugh!

CraigS Feasts on Thanksgiving Weekend

Every week, CraigS is close, but it took until Week 12 for him to put it all together and earn a weekly win. Craig posts a 367 to win the week, thanks to a lineup led by Allen, Brady, Ekeler, Taylor, B. Robinson, Perine, Diggs, Godwin, Kelce, and the Dolphins D.

Rookie owner Dylan cracks the money for the first time all season, scoring a 353 with a team featuring Allen, White, Ekeler, Singletary, Jefferson, Higgins, Wilson, and Kelce, and without making a single trade off his Week 11 lineup.

This is CraigS’s first weekly win since Week 9 last season, and Dylan‘s first payday ever. Congrats to CraigS and Dylan on their strong showings in Week 12, can enjoying a little something extra following Thanksgiving.

The Rookie Report:
As mentioned above, Dylan earns the weekly bragging rights for the second time this season, but Austin also deserves honorable mention, cracking the top 10 with a 346.

The Leaderboard:

1. Eric (3215)*
2. CraigS (3198)
3. TroyA (3172)
4. Mike (3156)*
5. Seth (3125) *
6. Jack (3070)*
7. Mr. Eames (3055)
David (3018), Heather (3004), and Michael (2945)* round out the top 10.

With six weeks to go, Eric continues to hang onto the top spot, but things are getting tight, as only 90 points separates first from fifth. Adding to the drama, three former league champs, CraigS, TroyA and Mike are in the hunt.

Can Eric stave them off to win the league for the first time ever?
Does sophomore owner Seth have what it takes to close strong and claim the title?
A lot to be decided in the final third of the season.
